What is Chiropractic Care?
Chiropractic care is a non-invasive, hands-on health care discipline that focuses on the body's muscles, joints,
and nervous system.
Doctors of Chiropractic are primary heath care professionals with over 7 years of post-secondary education.
They are trained and licensed to perform detailed heath history, perform physical assessments, and establish and
communicate a diagnosis. Based on the patients presentation, the chiropractor will then develop and carry out
comprehensive treatment plans specific to each patient. The treatment plan may include chiropractic manipulation
as known as an adjustment, soft tissue therapy, electrical modalities, exercise prescription, and most importantly
patient education. Health promotion is a large part of chiropractic care to help the patient find their optimal health.

What are the treatment options?
Please click on the links below to learn more about some of the core treatments used by chiropractors:
Spinal Manipulation (Chiropractic adjustment)/spinal mobilization
This is a specific application of gentle force applied to the joints in the spinal column (apophyseal or
facet joints) to encourage increased joint mobility, increase range of motion, joint health and pain relief.
Chiropractors are specially trained to perform theses manipulation safely and effectively with minimal risk of injury.
Chiropractors are also trained to assess the client to determine if spinal manipulation is appropriate and right for you!
Mulligan Mobilizations
A manual therapy approach that uses mobilization with movement in the extremities and to the spine to restore
functional movement in joints. The techniques are performed in a pain-free range of motion and provide instant functional
gain and pain relief.
Kinesio Tape application
Kinesio® Taping Methods is a taping technique applied to any part of the body using a cotton tape with
elastic properties to alleviate pain, encourage lymphatic flow and decrease edema (swelling), correct muscular imbalances,
and reduce muscle tension. Please refer to our Kinesiotaping page for more
information.
Posture Correcting Exercises
These are exercises given to reverse poor posture by strengthening weak-stretched muscles while stretching
overactive-tired muscles. These exercises are often done throughout the day to encourage proper posture when sitting
at the computer, driving, and when performing daily tasks such as lifting and cleaning.
Core Stability Training
This is an exercise training routine that combines muscular endurance with muscular strength to prevent injury
to the low back.
