Dr. Vivienne Guy, ND.
Vivienne Guy is a licensed and regulated Naturopathic Doctor. She is the owner of Kilborn Naturopathic
& Wellness Centre.
Vivienne didn't always plan on a career in natural medicine. The plan was a career in conventional
medicine. However, she began to question how things would look when she reached her career goal. Her idea
was to help people become healthy and stay that way and that didn't appear to be at the end of the traditional
medical path. For example Vivienne began to see friends, family have surgeries and interventions for things
that could have been fixed in advance. She saw a medicine that worked on disease rather than health.
After working in medical research for cardiovascular disease and diabetes Vivienne decided that it made more
sense for her to work with people before they had a disease rather than to study it after it had already
impacted their life. This is where Naturopathic medicine shines. It is preventative medicine. It is working with
the causes of disease to decrease the chances of disease occurring in the first place.
One of the joys of her work is helping people who arrive stating that they "simply aren’t 100%", that they
"could have more energy, less pain, less digestive complaints". Then after diagnosis, simple dietary changes,
some manageable lifestyle adjustments, they report back that it had indeed been years since they remember
feeling this good.
Being a working mom with two small children Vivienne understands the daily challenge of work life balance.
Her own experience allows for insight into her clients needs. With each person she helps them set realistic and
manageable goals for their own health being mindful of the busyness of everyday life. She enjoys seeing her clients’
transition from running through the day struggling to get things done, to being able to feel more rested; managing
to take care of themselves and those they love. Simple changes; advanced diagnostic tests; and natural solutions;
Naturopathic medicine is indeed a fantastic blend of traditional medicine and modern science.
Outside of the clinic, Vivienne enjoys her time spent with her family and takes advantage of her home in Ottawa
for snowboarding in the winter and canoeing and camping as soon as the weather allows.
